EDUCATION AND ACADEMICS

Education is the process of learning to acquire practicable experience or knowledge in an unsystematic format. It facilitates learning, values, habits, skills, and beliefs that develop the latent mental faculty of students. It enhances the development of human societies or institutionalized organizations by equipping students with classified information. By acquisition of classified information students become productive and preserve moral values. Education earns respect and honor for students through classic displays of intelligence. ‘Educate your mind is a terrible thing to waste’. In other words, academics is a ‘unit or branch’ in education and occupies only 2% space in the education world. It is all about ‘reading and writing’. Check the dictionary meaning of ‘academics’ for confirmation and you will be shocked. Academic is a decided knowledge pattern and does not allow students to explore anything outside the box. It is called ‘plastic mold’ because it compels students to think in the box and display theoretical knowledge. Education is the collection and collation of all knowledge from training, reading, listening, learning, and studying, etc. Students determine the pattern of learning by research in education. Education says, research determines your values while academics say your values are determined by documentaries (books). Education is the combination of book studies and research. Education allows students to discover what does or does not work. Education processes evidence to uncover what is or is not appropriate. The term ‘appropriate’ says sometimes a documented theory may not be suitable for certain situations. Books are good because they reveal what the author found useful in his philosophy.

SEPARATING EDUCATION FROM ACADEMICS

Education exposes students to ‘independent and interdependent thinking’ while academics restrict students to ‘slave thinking’. Education provides tools to examine what is told while academics restrain students from examining what is told. Education empowers students to question everything while academics constrain students from questioning everything. Education asked students to believe evidence while academics asked students to believe what the authority says. Education says new evidence upsets existing paradigms while academics say is boring to upset existing paradigms.

WHAT MAKES EDUCATION?

One of the essential features of education is ‘curiosity’. Curiosity aroused the mind to think through a wide expanse of reality and to continue to question readymade findings. It is the eagerness to adhere to the empirical methods of research and to review competitive documentation to collate quality skills or ideas together. It is the readiness to provide unique detail and good presentation. Education is the inclination to expand concepts of lower values into higher values. The inability to explain complex concepts with simple and proven logic is an expression of an inability to understand the concept. Nonetheless, findings from our team reveal that the demand for classmates from wealthy homes is a strong mental syndrome that has overpowered the desire of most parents today. Observably, most parents would like to have their children in a building surrounded by children from parents who can afford expensive private schools for them. To ward off such mesmeric ideology from parents with this demeaned mentality requires an ‘educational revolution’. This process starts with enlightenment about what education means. Every educational institute ought to employ ‘sound administrators’.

SEPARATING STUDYING AND LEARNING

Ideally, both phrases play the same role but vary in functional expression. Having said this, it is imperative to separate the functions of these two words. After that, we can go on and on to break down the functions of each word. How well an individual understands their functions determines personal applications. In accord with implied meaning, students ‘study’ to pass exams while students ‘learn’ to grow. ‘Studying’ relates to the short-term while ‘learning’ relates to a lifetime. Examine this, after a month or two of studying to pass exams, try to recall the topics, you may be shocked not to remember any. On another hand, whatever you learn lives in you continually. You can recall it after many years because is stored in your ‘memory disc’. For instance, if you learned to play the keyboard today and abandon it for some time, you can recall the key notes and tones, and play it after many years. Of course, you can recall the keynotes and tones because they are intact in your memory disc. Observably, the same is not applicable to ‘studying‘. You study to get off a tight for the now while you learn to grow throughout a lifetime. Yes, both words possess strong similarities but vary in functional expression.

WHAT IS EDUCATION?

To succeed in any field of discipline, students must develop personal learning schemes to explore superior knowledge. They must focus on content reaping. Education empowers students to select corresponding contents and schemes to personal abilities.

  • MATERIALS

The phrase materials refer to raw or refined natural resources. The most essential material for production is ‘human resources’. Human resource is acquired through teaching, learning, and homework. The most ideal way to reap classic intelligence and process human resources is to open up to mental edit operation through exploration of the wide expanse of learning channels that contain both ‘primary and secondary contents’.

  • CURRICULUM

Generally, the curriculum provides a guide that constrains the focus of students toward the acquisition of a particular field of knowledge to facilitate success in a definite discipline. Somewhat, it conserves energy to achieve a definite world of professionalism with excellence. It inculcates discipline in students to focus on specifics, to reap the needful knowledge, and to excel in a chosen career.

  • ASSESSMENT

Assessment is one of the most powerful tools used by administrators to measure the progress sheets of students. Educators call assessment ‘content evaluation’. It is a process that analyzes the performance level of students, to define their strengths and design suitable mental molds for individual development. It aids educators in fine-tuning the functionary strength of students and guides them into active productivity. It is a means to position students for higher pyramid achievements.

  • INSTRUCTION

Instruction is one powerful strategic way by which instructors direct the path of students to excellence. Good instructors use many channels to pass educative directives or information across to students. Such channels may take the forms of discussion, multimedia presentation, hands-on activity, teaching on blackboard, and so on to pass educative information across to students to excel in a course of interest.

  • TEACHERS-STUDENTS RELATIONSHIP

Where there is a positive teacher-student relationship, there would be a harmonious impact. Whatever you learn from (nature or human) is your teacher at the time and your comparability margin with whatever you are learning from determines the degree of its transfer to you. Great teachers build an operating rapport system with students by showing care, giving them a sense of involvement, and encouraging them to believe they can achieve optimal. Great teachers support students to increase their performance capacity while holding onto their expectations for excellence from students.
